The mother had reported Tala missing about two months before the incident, but the search was called off when she was found visiting her sister in NY.
NY police have identified two young Virginia women found dead along the Hudson River on Manhattan's Upper West Side.
Cops said they jumped off the George Washington Bridge before their bodies washed up 100 blocks down river.
Police said they're investigating the deaths, and that the city medical examiner's office will determine the causes. Their bodies were identified Friday.
The NYPD said police responded to the 911 call and "upon arrival, officers discovered two unidentified females unconscious and unresponsive with no obvious signs of trauma".
Tala was last seen August 24, according to a posting on the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
They were pronounced dead at the scene, along the riverbanks on Manhattan's Upper West Side, police said.
The petite brown-eyed teenager was only 5ft and 130lbs.
A NY police spokesman said police were awaiting the results of autopsies on the sisters before determining whether the case was a homicide.
