Dana White was asked whether he would be interested in promoting a rematch between Nurmagomedov and McGregor, considering the risks that can not be ignored, but he remained non-committal on running it back. "I hope they sort out whatever legal issues arise from the post fight brawl, and I hope we never see anything like that again, but as a fan of mixed martial arts his performance was an awesome thing to watch".

The incident was mild compared to what happened later in the evening, after Khabib submitted Conor McGregor in the fourth round, jumped into the crowd and attacked Conor's camp.

UFC chief Dana White confirmed later that three of Nurmagomedov's team were arrested and taken to jail but were released later because McGregor refused to press charges. Danis, a current member of the Bellator MMA roster, was the person Nurmagomedov jumped off the Octagon to attack after the two were involved in a shouting match.

"Nobody saw Khabib diving over there".

Humble in defeat, McGregor immediately took to Twitter to declare his desire for a rematch, putting pressure on Nurmagomedov to accept.

UFC president Dana White revealed it wasn't him or the company the Khabib had to worry about when it came to discipline but the Nevada Athletic Commission saying, "The Nevada State Athletic Commission is going to go after him pretty hard". I don't know when things started turning into some kind of s-t show?! "We had two [security] meetings tonight, one of them two fights before the main event". I'm a human being. He talked about my religion, my country, my father.

"I slapped him as promised", the 27-year-old teammate of Khabib Nurmagomedov wrote on Instagram, as translated by ESPN contributor Karim Zidan. Guys, you can not talk about this stuff and, for me, this is very important. I don't understand. You cannot talk about religion, you cannot talk about nations, you cannot talk about this stuff.
