Paramount Pictures just released the first horrifying trailer for the new adaptation of King's classic novel Pet Sematary, in which a family moves into a new home near a cemetery that can resurrect the dead.
Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural ME, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family's new home.
At their new home, the Creed family learns that a mysterious burial ground is tucked away in the forest that sits behind their property.
The doctor turns to his neighbour Judd Crandall (John Lithgow) after a sudden tragedy.
He continues: "Kids used to dare each other to go into the woods at night".
"It may be just some insane folk tale, but there is something in those woods, something that brings things back", Lithgow's character says in the trailer.
It looks true to the story we know and love of pet resurrection gone wrong, but with some intriguing new scenes, like the children's masked parade through the woods. Pet Sematary is scheduled to open in theaters on April 5, 2019. The directors previously made cult horror Starry Eyes, which is a disturbing look at fame and Hollywood and a very good sign for this particular reboot.
