Wouldn't you be happy if you get a 3rd-gen Chromecast when you have the intention of buying the 2nd-gen device?

The third-generation Google Chromecast was recently purchased by Reddit user GroveStreetHomie. We expect full details of not only the streamer but also several new Google products to be revealed then.

Even though we won't be over in NY for the Made By Google event, we understand we'll be able to see these new products on Australian shores pretty quickly, so if your local JB HiFi isn't selling New Chromecasts just yet, it won't be long before they are. Its upcoming Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL phones have leaked on multiple occasions now. "I thought it was just a design refresh taking queues from the Chromecast Ultra".

The new model has a matte finish, instead of the glossy plastic that the second-generation Chromecast uses. Then when I was at the cashier, they couldn't scan the item because it wasn't in the system yet because the release date is on the 9th of October (Same day as the 2018 Google event) but I guess they put it out too early. "But since I already had it in my hand and was the same price as the 2nd generation Chromecast, they let me have it under the old SKU".

This time previous year, it was the Bose QC35 II headphones with Google Assistant built-in and this week the electronics retail giant has accidentally let a 3rd generation Chromecast slip through the front doors before Google has even announced its existence. It still has a Micro-USB port for charging. When the redditor got home, he noticed that the device was indeed different than others he owned. The new Chromecast is expected to arrive with Bluetooth support.

Sadly, the new Chromecast doesn't work, as it requires a new version of the Home app, which will likely be released after Google's show. All other details such as pricing and availability will be clearer at the October 9 event.
