Ariana Grande Knew Pete Davidson Would Mention Her On ‘SNL’

Billboard has named American singer Ariana Grande its Woman of the Year for 2018

The single is Grande processing through past relationships, including her recently-ended engagement to "SNL" star Pete Davidson, thanking them for what they taught her and preparing her for whatever's next.

Midway through the song, she climbed on top of a chair and stumbled as she stepped down from it, but she literally laughed it off, breaking up the verse with an "Oh my god" and laughing during a couple of the following lines. And to that we say, thank u, next.

This was real and authentic and so, so on point! "She's got guts, she's making some of the best music of her career, and she's absolutely deserving of Woman of the Year".

"This one gon" last / "Cause her name is Ari / And I'm so good with that", she sang without missing a note, adding a self-deprecating chuckle. So half an hour before the latest episode of SNL started, Grande put her new single out into the world, and it nearly immediately became a meme to rival "me voting in 2016 vs.me voting today". The scenery on stage matched the set for the "You Don't Own Me" scene in the movie. "Holding hands with my mama", she sang, through tears.

She helped organize the One Love Manchester concert previous year, raising more than US$23 million for victims of the Manchester bombing.

The tune, which namechecks several of her famous exes, including former fiance, Pete Davidson, the late Mac Miller, Big Sean, and Ricky Alvarez, is a touching tribute to the past men in her life and to the woman she's become as a result.

The tracks included Cadillac and Champagne, thought to be versions of Ariana's previously unreleased songs. "She's a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world".
