Liverpool suffered their third consecutive away defeat in the Champions League on Tuesday night, as Red Star Belgrade beat last season's finalists 2-0 in Serbia. It was reported that a dispute between Buvač and Klopp was the reason behind his decision to leave, but it remains unclear.
Earlier in the match Daniel Sturridge had a chance to put the Reds 1-0 up, when the scores were level, but blasted half volley over the bar.
Liverpool have won just three of their last nine matches, against Red Star, Cardiff and Huddersfield.
Salah and Van Dijk then wasted late chances, as Red Star dug deep to open the door to Napoli or PSG in the hunt for first place. However, defeat means they can not really afford to lose either of their two final round-robin matches against PSG and Napoli, who are both impressive sides. "There were a lot of moments when we could get in control of the game and we didn't do it, we made the wrong decisions".
Liverpool fans were left angered with Lazar Markovic after he appeared to like the fact that they were stunned by Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, claims he later denied.
But Liverpool should have been in front in the 17th minute when the ball ran kindly for Daniel Sturridge inside the six-yard box, but the England global somehow managed to blaze over the bar when completely unmarked.
"The gaffer, win or lose, he always speaks more the day after the game because that's when he can clear his head and that's where he gets the best out of us, where he can talk from his thoughts", said defender Andy Robertson. They scored a goal and then completely out of the blue they scored a second and the atmosphere completely changed.
"As players we've got to take full responsibility and make sure it doesn't happen again", Lallana told LFCTV.
The Reds soon took charge, though their luck in front of goal showed no sign of improving, as a deflected Robertson delivery hit the crossbar and Salah's 72nd-minute effort clipped the outside of the upright.
The Reds are now third, level on points with second placed Chelsea and just two points behind leaders Manchester City, with all three sides still unbeaten. It's still in our hands and if we win our next two games we go through, but it was a great opportunity missed for us.
