SNL Denigrates Battle Wound of Former SEAL Dan Crenshaw

Crenshaw served 10 years as a Navy SEAL and was hit with a blast from an improvised explosive device in the Helmand province in 2012 that destroyed his right eye, according to his campaign website.

The comment came during an "SNL" segment in which Davidson gave his "First Impressions" of the appearances of several candidates.

"One of our Afghan interpreters stepped on a pressure plate right in front of me", he said.

NRCC spokesperson, Jack Pandol, released a statement Sunday, criticizing Davidson's actions, adding that being dumped is "no excuse for lashing out" at a war hero. After showing an image of Crenshaw wearing his eyepatch, Davidson said, "You may be surprised to hear he's a congressional candidate in Texas and not a hit man in a porno movie".

During the "Weekend Update" portion of the NBC program, cast member Pete Davidson began a segment discussing Texas Republican congressional candidate Dan Crenshaw, who he sarcastically described as "pretty cool" as a picture of Crenshaw flashed on the screen.

"I'm sorry - I know he lost his eye in war or whatever", he chuckled.

Crenshaw himself tweeted about it, writing, "I hope @nbcsnl recognizes that vets don't deserve to see their wounds used as punchlines for bad jokes".

In response to his commentary, Meghan McCain, The View co-host and daughter of the late Sen.

Donald Trump Jr retweeted criticism against Davidson, writing that his skit "sounded more like leftist editorial than anything these days".

Many were quick to highlight Crenshaw's unbelievable story, making it even more clear as to how disgusting Davidson's comments were. "She's a wonderful, strong person and I genuinely wish her all the happiness in the world".
