Raptors' G League Affiliate Waives Kay Felder After Domestic Abuse Arrest

On Monday, Kay Felder was released by Raptors 905, the Toronto Raptors' G League affiliate after he was arrested and charged with domestic violence.

The identity of the woman has not yet been made public, but multiple sources say that Felder apparently has known her for years. Citing sources, TMZ claims the two got into a post-dinner argument before Felder allegedly choked the woman, leaving visible marks on her neck.

Felder, 23, the 54th pick in the 2016 NBA Draft, was arrested in Mississauga, Ontario, and charged with assault and uttering threats against the unnamed woman during a domestic dispute, the report said. Raptors 905 have waived Felder, effective immediately. The victim called a family member, who then called police.

Felder is the Horizon League career assists leader from his time at Oakland University, and at only 23 years old, could have made his impact on an National Basketball Association team with enough hard work. He had brief stints with the Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons last season before signing a non-guaranteed contract in Toronto this past August.

The 23-year-old Felder averaged 24.4 ppg his final year with the Golden Grizzlies and has played in 58 career National Basketball Association games with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Chicago Bulls and the Detroit Pistons.

"As this matter is before the courts, Raptors 905 will not comment further", the statement read.

Felder is due in court later this month, according to TMZ.
