Kedarnath, starring Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, is a love story that is set against the 2013 devastating floods that nearly destroyed the shrine-town. Interestingly, this film marks Sara Ali Khan's foray into Bollywood.
The screening of Kedarnath has been banned as a precautionary measure to avoid "disruption of peace". In the meeting, it was decided that the state government would not ban the movie and instead leave the decision to district administrations. The remaining six districts of the state do not have cinema halls.

In Kedarnath, Sushant essays the role of a cheerful and hard-working Muslim pithoo who carries the devotees on his back to the Kedarnath shrine for livelihood, while Sara essays the role of a bubbly Hindu devotee who falls in love with her bearer. "The state shall ensure law and order is maintained". After the committee submitted a report on Thursday, the government said district magistrates should take a call depending on the law-and-order situation in their jurisdiction area on whether to allow screening of the film.
