USA to Send Warship to Black Sea Amid Kerch Strait Tensions

Late last month Russian Federation opened fire on and seized three Ukranian navy vessels as they tried to pass through the Kerch Strait.

Ukrainian ports of the Azov sea reduced the turnover more than doubled, forced to go on four-day working week and reduce staff.

The US has commenced rendering the mandatory provisions to sail a warship into the Black Sea, a step that arrives amid intensified anxiety in the area due to succeeding Russia's subjugation of Ukrainian ships and confinement of Ukrainian sailors.

Russian Federation has "partially unblocked" Ukraine's ports on the Azov Sea, allowing ship traffic though the Kerch Strait, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelyan said Tuesday in a statement posted on the ministry's website.

And U.S. surveillance planes and drones regularly skirt Russia's Black Sea coastline, as well as that of Crimea, the Ukrainian peninsula that Moscow annexed in 2014. The ministry also said that "the passage of ships with agricultural products through ports on the Sea of Azov have been unblocked".

The global community views the annexation as illegal and the election Russian Federation uses to justify it as illegitimate. Ukraine imposed martial law for 30 days in several regions around the country in response, and has barred entry to male Russian nationals aged 16 to 60 for the duration of the state of emergency.

The lower house of Russian parliament, the State Duma, approved a statement Tuesday accusing the Ukrainian president of a "reckless and cynical attempt to change the situation in his favor" and a "desire to cling to power at any cost even at the threat of a full-scale war".

"All of Ukraine is now proud of your loved ones", he said during the emotional meeting in his office, hugging the captives' family members, some teary-eyed.

Poroshenko, who has made an independent church one of the main slogans of his not-yet-announced re-election bid, said that Orthodox communities would gather on December 15 to adopt the charter of the new Ukrainian church and choose its leader.
