Bayern Munich fine Franck Ribery for offence after gold leaf steak furore

The French winger put a string of angry posts on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday aimed at those who had criticised him for eating the golden steak in a famous restaurant and uploading a video online.

The 35-year-old Bayern Munich winger and former France worldwide posted the video of a visit to Nusr-Et, a steak house owned by celebrity Turkish restauranteur Salt Bae and rubbing his hands before tucking into a huge chop coated in gold.

"For 2019, let's dot the 'i's and cross the 't's", he wrote".

Bayern Munich will impose "a heavy fine" on Franck Ribery for his obscenity laced outburst on social media, the club's sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic said on Sunday.

Salihamidzic added: "I spoke to Franck for a long time yesterday and told him he would receive a hefty fine". The messages on Ribery's official accounts were an angry response. "Not just him, but also his pregnant wife, his child, and his mother, who is in hospital for an operation", said Salihamidzic, who said he understood the player's reaction to defend his family.

In the posts, the French forward attacked the "envious" and "haters" who he said were "surely born because of a broken condom". "I support the player there, too".

Bayern have since released a statement about the incident and confirmed they have handed Ribery a "heavy fine" for his use of language. "F-- your mothers, your grandmothers and even your family tree. No, you prefer to talk about the holidays that I go on with my family, you scrutinize my actions, what I eat, etc!" My success is above all thanks to God, thanks to myself and thanks to my loved ones, who believed in me. For the others, you're nothing but pebbles in my socks!

The Bayern veteran, whose contract with the club expires at the end of the season, had an altercation with a French television worker at the end of previous year for which he later apologized.

Ribery said in another follow-up Tweet, "To the pseudo-journalists who always criticized me, whenever I spend something (because I have learned to give when I earn a lot.) why is this not spread by one of the big national media? Oh yes, you're here for that kind of futility".
