Amid much fanfare, the official trailer of Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles, dropped online today.

The trailer has bhaari '8 Mile' vibes with tons of rap battles to show the rise of Ranveer Singh's character as a rapper. Alia, on the other hand, will play his love interest in the film. I am thankful that she exists.

Loosely based on the lives of Divine and Naezy, the breakout stars of the Mumbai hip hop scene, the film has been made for a screenplay by Akhtar and Reema Kagti.

When Zoya was asked how she managed to work with him in the film, she said: "He is a method actor".

Ranbir confirmed his relationship with Alia in May previous year.

Produced by Rietsh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar's Excel Entertainment, Gully Boy hits theatres on 14 February.
