Game of Thrones Season 8

HBO megatrailer drops first Watchmen footage and introduces Sansa to Daenerys

The superhit fantasy epic show will end this April with its eight and final season.

During the 76th Golden Globe Awards last night, HBO released a teaser trailer, showing new footage from the upcoming seasons of many of its most beloved series. The clip showed Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke) arriving in Winterfell and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) pledging her kingdom to the queen's cause.

In the clip Sansa simply says: "Winterfell is yours, your grace".

In the brief footage, Daenerys is seen being introduced to Sansa, who now holds the fort at Winterfell, by Jon after their arrival from Dragonstone.

Also in the shot we can see Jon Snow, Brienne of Tarth and Ser Jorah Mormont.

Game of Thrones is coming back in just a few months, and honestly we can not WAIT. "It's the first time you ever see her like that, and it's so fantastic to see her like that - kind of owning her destiny". Although the final season is shorter than previous ones, the new episodes are rumored to be about 90 minutes long each - the length of feature films. The teaser reveals clips from Damon Lindelof's adaptation of the legendary graphic novel Watchmen, as well as Big Little Lies season 2, and the hopefully-redemptive True Detective season 3.

The season is going to get ugly, and the breakdown of alliances, including families, is a real possibility.

The "Watchmen" footage featured multiple characters in masks while also giving fans their first look at Jeremy Irons in the series. Whether it'll be able to deliver or not remains to be seen, but we're hopeful that the show will be able to go out with a bang after so many years of bringing us exhilarating television.
