Lexar, however, has beaten every other card manufacturer to the punch by revealing its own 1TB SDXC memory card at CES 2019, and it's already on sale. As a comparison, the 512GB version costs US$209.95 (about RM858.69) while the 256GB card is going for US$109.95 (about RM449.69).
SanDisk, years back, showed off a 1TB SD prototype that never managed to make it to market.
"Almost 15 years ago, Lexar announced a 1GB SD card", said Lexar's senior marketing manager Joey Lopez. "As consumers continue to demand greater storage for their cameras, the combination of high-speed performance with a 1TB option now offers a solution for content creators who shoot large volumes of high-resolution images and 4K video". Now, it's been beaten to the punch by Lexar's Professional 633x line of SDHC and SDXC UHS-I cards, which have capacities ranging from 16GB up to 1TB.
The 1TB Lexar Professional 633x SDXC UHS-I card is available now at an MSRP of $499.99. Sadly, this is a full-size SD card, so it's too big for smartphones.
The convenience doesn't just come from the space though. This is a V30 card, which Lexar states can achieve up to 95MB/s data transfer speeds, but it is only guaranteed to hit a minimum sequential write speed of 30MB/s.
