New York Mets acquire Keon Broxton from Milwaukee

NY announced on Saturday they had picked up the 28-year-old for pitcher Bobby Wahl and minor leaguers Adam Hill and Felix Valerio.

Brewers General Manager David Sterns announcing Saturday that outfielder Keon Broxton has been traded to the New York Mets in exchange for three players. The other two minor leaguers, righty Adam Hill and infielder Felix Valerio, are not now ranked among the organization's top 30 prospects according to

Wahl had a 10.13 ERA in seven appearances for the Mets, allowing nine hits and two home runs over 5 1/3 innings.

Broxton, 28, batted.179 with four home runs and 11 RBI's in 78 at bats for the Brewers in 2018.

Wahl, 26, has been very good in relief in the upper minors, but hasn't yet translated it to the big leagues.

"Thank you Brewers for the love, support, and guidance through these past three years", Broxton tweeted. Their backup outfielders will likely be Juan Lagares and Rajai Davis. This is the correct attitude to take, but by adding a second defensive center fielder in Broxton the Mets will need to add more offense elsewhere if they hope to win in 2019. He struck out 26 in 15 1/3 innings for Class-A Brooklyn in 2018. That being said, Broxton is a major league outfielder. Wahl saw some major-league time last season after coming to the Mets in the Jeurys Familia trade.

Hill, a right-handed reliever and fourth-round draft pick out of SC, went 1-1 with a 2.35 ERA in nine games for the Brooklyn Cyclones last season.

18-year old Felix Valerio spent his first professional season in the Dominican Summer league batting.319 with 3 HR, 22 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 67 games.
