The Batman Gets a 2021 Release Date

Matt Reeves Talks Story Villain & Release Details of His Noir Batman Movie

The Batman Gets a 2021 Release Date

At the end of previous year, Affleck said: 'You don't do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it'.

After a more than a bit of hemming and hawing and to'ing and fro'ing and will he-ing and won't he-ing, we've finally got fairly concrete confirmation: Ben Affleck is the big screen Batman no more. But after he hung those tights, Ben Affleck stepped in to give a exhausted and weary version of the caped crusader in Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and Suicide Squad.

As was previously announced, Matt Reeves is writing and directing the film, now titled The Batman, which will focus on a younger version of the character. Warner Bros. announced Wednesday that it will release "The Batman" on June 25, 2021 and "The Suicide Squad" six weeks later on August 6.

Affleck announced that he was bowing out of directorial duties on The Batman last January but left the door open for his return as the Dark Knight.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he's now officially in negotiations to make the movie, currently called The Suicide Squad and seen more as a refresh than a straight sequel to the 2016 film. But you can't shake the shadow of the bat off too much, and indeed Matt Reeves has been slowly but surely plugging away at his approach to DC's signature hero.

The star of ER was another one-and-done Batman and now expresses misgivings about Batman and Robin, the film in which he appeared. The comics have a history of that. Affleck was attached to direct for a while before stepping down due to being overwhelmed with the project. Pictures release date news, because the studio has also set the Suicide Squad sequel for release in 2021, as well as a DC Super Pets movie.

While Affleck helped write the story for the upcoming film, he reportedly did not feel he was right for the part as this movie will focus on a younger version of the character. In an interview, Matt Reeves revealed his Batman will be a noir driven detective story featuring a multitude of villains. "I'd love this to be one where when we go on that journey of tracking down the criminals and trying to solve a crime".
