Report Bucks send Thon Maker to Pistons for Stanley Johnson

Bucks acquire sharpshooting big man Nikola Mirotic in trade with Pelicans

"Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Bucks will be getting 6' 10" forward Nikola Mirotic from New Orleans.

"We thank Thon and Jason for their contributions to the Bucks and wish them well".

Thon Maker #7 of the Milwaukee Bucks looks on prior to the game against the Miami Heat at American Airlines Arena on December 22, 2018 in Miami, Florida.

Just last year, Mirotic was a driving force behind the Pelicans' first round sweep over the Portland Trail Blazers and averaged 15 points on shooting splits of.480/.431/.789, along with 9.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.1 steals in New Orleans' eight playoff tilts last year.

Johnson is joining the league's best defensive team, and in the Bucks' fast-paced offence he may be able to impact the game with his slashing ability.

Johnson, 27, is 6-foot-7 and in his fourth National Basketball Association season. "Johnson can work to find a role on a contending team, and Maker will get an opportunity for playing time with Dwane Casey".

Johnson, selected No. 8 by the Pistons in the 2015 draft, has produced mixed results through parts of four seasons. In 267 career games, he's averaged 7.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals.

The 76ers added Butler in their first blockbuster trade earlier in the season.

This move, helps the Pistons relief some more cap space and perhaps be able to make or talk about some other deal (on the business side) and on the court, the team can stretch the floor with Maker, because he is a respectable shooter from mid range and a 33 percent 3 point shooter.

"All three players bring high character to our locker room and we are excited about their fit alongside Joel, Ben, Jimmy and our entire roster".
