There is a freezing rain warning in effect for most parts of the Maritimes and that will lead to icy conditions in the Maritimes on Friday.
Be prepared for this latest surge of unsafe winter weather. Freezing rain, mixed with snow and sleet, will make travel risky, said meteorologists. Periods of freezing drizzle and light freezing rain will continue north of the front into early this evening from southeastern Kansas into west-central Missouri.
The freezing rain made the roads slippery and forced plenty of closures and cancellations. Metro Detroit and southern areas are likely to see notable icing, the weather service said. Some dry weather is expected tomorrow midday-afternoon with mostly cloudy skies and highs around 25 degrees.
The agency also warned of a risk of thunderstorms later Thursday night.
"This storm didn't happen at the best time for us so this cleanup is going to take us into the p.m. rush hour". Experts say to drive slower if you experience slick road conditions.
