Behar said that she had dressed up as "a handsome African woman".
The photo, which shows the comedian dressed as what she called "a handsome African woman", was seen several years ago during an episode of the morning show.
Critics are calling for co-host Joy Behar to be fired because of a 2016 clip from the show circulating on social media.
"Joy, are you black?" former co-host Raven-Symoné asked as the rest of the hosts seemed shocked at the drastically different look. She asked, "Are you black, Joy?" followed by, "Are you my auntie, Joy?"
When Behar was 29 years old, she apparently dressed up as a "beautiful African woman" for Halloween, complete with makeup to make her skin darker.
Behar answered that she wore makeup "that was a little bit darker than my skin".
ABC News' "The View" co-host Joy Behar remained stone silent Thursday regarding old footage of her donned in blackface that was unearthed this week as similar images have caused outrage and derailed careers. Ralph Northam, who apologized after a picture featuring a man in blackface and another dressed in KKK robes from his medical school yearbook page emerged last week.
Northam later backtracked and insisted it wasn't him in the photo.
"I think the question is...where's the line?", one Twitter user commented. "I went as a lovely African woman".
"That's my hair!" Behar said, pushing the conversation about her hair during the segment. "Hell, girls can't even wear braids in their hair anymore without getting yelled at for that, but she ACTUALLY dresses as a "beautiful African woman" and nothing?" Conservative blogger Matt Walsh wrote, "Megyn Kelly was sacked from her show for asking a hypothetical question about blackface".
"Yeah, but you ain't black", Symoné said under breath.
