It was reported on Wednesday that Detroit traded Johnson to Milwaukee for Thon Maker, but neither team ever formally announced the deal - despite the news making the rounds on Twitter.
The New Orleans Pelicans have finally done it, shipping a player in their frontcourt to another team hours before the NBA's trade deadline. He says the Bucks will give Jason Smith and Stanley Johnson, whom they received from the Pistons in a trade, for Mirotic.
The Bucks are expecting for Mirotic to have the same effect he had for New Orleans last season, as his offensive firepower and outside shooting catapulted them to the playoffs.
In 32 games so far this season, Mirotic is averaging 16.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
His best season with the Pistons may well have come when he was a rookie. He has averaged 12.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game over his career. He's also making 2.7 3-pointers per game, tied for ninth in the National Basketball Association.
The Bucks acquired Johnson from the Pistons earlier in the week. He played in six games for the Bucks this year, totaling 13 points.
