OnePlus has been playing with teasers for its first 5G smartphone for quite some time.
However, as it turns out, during its MWC 2019 event, OnePlus will be showcasing the prototype of its upcoming 5G smartphone. OnePlus will also be there in Barcelona, Spain, as the Chinese technology company recently confirmed that it would 'Connect with the OnePlus Community over 5G'.
5G devices to shine at the Mobile World Congress 2019. The OnePlus 5G prototype phone will be running on a fully functional network. It is fully possible the company may showcase a 5G variant of the OnePlus 6T like how other manufacturers are doing now.
The OnePlus 7 has to be more than just a minor upgrade over the OnePlus 6T to take on the best phones of 2019. Even the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 7T are said to be powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset but will be based on X24 modem. Furthermore, the company mentions that those attending to the event will be able to get a taste of 5G gaming Experience through one of its latest "OnePlus Prototype with 5G".
OnePlus says that MWC visitors will be invited to "communicate with [their] community over a 5G network", though it's not clear what that entails.
With major cellphone makers like Samsung, Apple, and Google lagging behind in the 5G-ready smartphone race, it seems OnePlus is planning to pick up the slack.
