"Hopefully the paper will soon be placed in better and more responsible hands!"
When President Donald Trump called Amazon founder Jeff Bezos "Jeff Bozo" in a Sunday evening tweet, it quickly triggered more amazement at the extent to which he's changed the nature of presidential discourse.
In a now-trending tweet, Trump sarcastically referred to the richest man alive as "Jeff Bozo", seemingly alluding to a fictional clown character, which was popular in the United States in 1960s.
'I understand, is far more accurate than the reporting in his lobbyist newspaper, the Amazon Washington Post, ' Trump added, this time jabbing at the news outlet owned by Bezos.
The president has also previously tweeted claims that Amazon benefits from billions of dollars in subsidies from the US Postal Service while paying "little or no taxes to state and local governments".
The parent company of the National Enquirer, American Media Inc., admitted in December that it paid $150,000 to former Playboy playmate Karen McDougal for the rights to her story about a sexual relationship with Trump to "ensure that the woman did not publicize damaging allegations about the candidate before the 2016 presidential election".
Trump is often critical of the Post and criticizes unfavorable coverage which he dubs "fake news". Axios reported in March that Trump is "obsessed" with taking down Amazon .
