Amazon Fire TV finally gets Apple Music streaming

Another Amazon device is getting Apple Music support in the US

That's it. You'll now be able to tell Alexa to play Apple Music on the Fire TV, just as you would an Amazon Echo speaker.

"We're excited to announce that Apple Music will be available on Echo devices beginning the week of December 17". To turn it on, open the Alexa app on your phone and activate the Apple Music skill. The company has long made its services available only on its own devices, and now that is business focus has shifted towards services-based revenue, the company is aggressively pushing its services and bringing them to more and more devices.

Earlier this year, Apple Music briefly appeared in the Google Home app (though it could not be used), but was quickly removed. You'll also be able to get your hands on the device the next day, with Amazon Prime one-day delivery.

"We're thrilled to bring Apple Music - one of the most popular music services in the United States - to Echo customers this holiday".

To set-up your Fire TV Stick or Fire TV Stick 4K, you'll need a compatible TV (HD or 4K) with an HDMI input port, an internet connection, and an Amazon account.

Same reason iTunes is coming to Samsung televisions, and Airplay 2 to LG, Sony, and Vizio sets. If you already enabled the Apple Music skill for use with an Echo device, you can start listening right away without having to go through the setup process again.

Along with this music streaming plan, it's thought Apple could soon launch a similar service for video. Just this week Spotify announced its Premium subscribers will now get Hulu for free, a move likely meant to pre-empt Apple, which we expect will be bundled its new video streaming service (at least optionally) with Apple Music.
