The departure of Nelson comes after the organization gave him a $3.6 million roster bonus in December. He spent his first nine seasons in the league with the franchise.
The Raiders, of course, cut Nelson on Thursday.
The only other quarterback employed by the Raiders is Nathan Peterman, who's signed to a reserve/future contract.
The two sides agreed to a deal for a new lease, and the Coliseum Stadium Authority board voted unanimously on Friday to approve the extension.
