Officers visited the "Ignition" hitmaker's apartment in the Trump Tower in Chicago to carry out a welfare check after dispatchers received a report that suggested five women were about to take their own lives, though the anonymous call did not specify when the alleged suicides would be carried out.

On Tuesday an anonymous caller called police dispatch to report that Kelly's girlfriend, Azriel Clary and "four other women, who are victims of R. Kelly are planning to carry out a suicide pact at one of the condos at Trump Tower". "Police on scene conducting a wellness check and it is not a bonafide incident", the Chicago Police Department said in a statement. Kelly was taken to jail last Wednesday and released on Saturday. Kelly's publicist says there was a meeting with his legal team.

Following the Surviving R. Kelly documentary that uncovered a number of allegations of sexual abuse made against the R&B singer, the parents of one of Kelly's "live-in girlfriends" have given an interview blaming themselves for what happened to their daughter. "I didn't see the label stop supporting him". I feel like I failed my daughter because I should have saw different signs. "That he's put it in place that if something goes down they're all going to take pills and kill..."

Though the couple said they were always anxious about their daughter, they said they were often assured by several women in Kelly's camp that Azriel was in "good hands".

In the criminal case, Kelly has pleaded not guilty to 10 counts of criminal sexual abuse. It just breaks my heart.

The parents of Azriel Clary are "ashamed" after watching their daughter passionately defend R. Kelly on national television. She added that, in the beginning of her Azriel's "professional" relationship with the singer, she also "had to prove [her] loyalty to him by any means necessary... she was lying and duping us and pulling the wool over our eyes from the beginning".

Azriel, in her interview with King, accused her parents of trying to extort money from Kelly, alleging her father had encouraged her to make sex videos for future blackmail leverage. Says R. Kelly can't afford current payments because he is "not working". The parents deny either charge.
