Tebow hit.267 (4-for-15) this spring with the Mets.

In other moves Tuesday, the Mets optioned pitchers Paul Sewald and Jacob Rhame to their minor league camp and reassigned pitcher Arquimedes Caminero, outfielder Rymer Liriano, catcher Ali Sanchez and infielders Andres Gimenez and Dilson Herrera.

Tebow says that he's never actually been to Syracuse, but he's looking forward to the opportunity.

Pete Sala, vice president and chief facilities officer at Syracuse University, says the practice will be the first time baseball will be played in the Carrier Dome. "And we all have cell phones".

In typical Tebow fashion, he took the demotion as a learning experience and with a bunch of optimism, telling reporters how grateful he was for the time he had to learn from New York's more experienced players and coaches. Syracuse will be the 31-year-old's fourth stop in the minor leagues: He spent two years playing for St. Lucie (Fla.), Columbia (S.C.) and Binghamton and one season in the Arizona Fall League.

And if he joins the Mets at some point this season ...
