The Star Wars family has denied this in the past, and in The Last Jedi, Kylo cruelly showed Rey that her parents were just regular people who abandoned her. "Lando never left me!" It features most of the characters you'd expect, and some you don't, and conveys quite a different tone from the Celebration teaser for The Force Awakens. Considered one of the main characters, along with Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa, only Carrie Fisher's Leia is still alive for "The Rise of Skywalker".

The panel opened with behind-the-scenes footage from the original 1977 Star Wars, with Harrison Ford brutally blowing his "navicomputer" line during a rehearsal.

Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Kelly Marie Tran, Anthony Daniels, and Joonas Suotamo will all return from The Last Jedi, with Billy Dee Williams set to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian, and Naomi Ackie joins as a new character named Jannah. Though, for Episode IX - the final chapter in the beloved Skywalker saga - the enormity of the moment, and the desire to stay true to George Lucas's vision while adding even more depth for modern audiences, was felt by everyone. As of this writing, we haven't gotten many meaningful details yet, with Kennedy and Abrams talking broadly about how they reached this point and what Episode IX means to them and to Star Wars.

Before we continue forward, we should let you know that this article will contain some major spoilers for The Last Jedi, so if you haven't seen it yet, you might want to stop reading.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams were the first to the stage. Yet, "this is an adventure the group goes on together". Today, the company revealed the full title for Episode 9, which will wrap up the Skywalker Saga more than 40 years after it first started with A New Hope.

When prodded about what will happen with the complex relationship between Kylo and Rey, Ridley demurred, "I guess the Kylo and Rey thing, we'll have to see". "We are looking at the next saga", she told The Hollywood Reporter.

Here's what some folks, including Kevin Smith, are emphatically saying about the just-released teaser for Episode IX, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker over on Twitter.

Naturally, they kept plot and character details to a minimum - this is Star Wars after all, and the king of Mystery Box storytelling, no less - but Abrams did confirm some exciting details.
