With his teammates Cam Reddish and RJ Barrett declaring for the NBA draft, it was a surprise to pretty well no one when he announced today that he would be entering the NBA Draft this upcoming season, according to ESPN.
Williamson, who racked up several national player of the year awards during his lone season at Duke, is widely projected to be the No. 1 pick in the NBA Draft.
"The 6'7", 285-pound freshman took college basketball by storm this season with a number of sensational performances.
Will Duke retire Zion Williamson's No. 1 and hang it in the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium? In his first game back during the ACC tournament, Williamson finished with 29 points, 14 rebounds and five steals.
Williamson averaged 22.6 points and 8.9 rebounds per game this year while guiding the Blue Devils to an appearance in the Elite Eight.
The Atlanta Hawks are the only other team with better than 10 percent odds at getting the No. 1 pick. The New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Phoenix Suns have the best shot, each with a 14% chance.
