Since lunar months are shorter than solar months, Muslims holy month of Ramadan, which takes place in the ninth month of the Islamic year, occurs approximately 11 days earlier every year depending on when the moon is sighted and hence, varying from country to country by about a day. It will continue for a month, that is, until the first week of June.

"The ministry invites citizens and residents to explore the vision of the holy month of Ramadan for this year on Saturday Shaaban 29, 1440 - May 4, 2019".

First Ramazan in the United States and Australia will also be observed on Monday.

If the moon is sighted tonight, the holy month of Ramzan will begin from tomorrow. Moon sighting would also be attempted in France, Belgium, Wales, as well as in parts of eastern Europe including Germany.

More than 1.5 billion Muslims around the world will mark the month, during which believers abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and having martial relations from dawn until sunset. They must keep away from any evil thoughts and deeds, as well.
