Two people, believed to be window cleaners, have been rescued from a lift near the top of an approximately 850-foot skyscraper in Oklahoma City.

Crews responded to the Devon Tower in downtown Oklahoma City at around 7:45 a.m. local time.

Workers were on the lift when the basket became loose, and started swinging "out of control". Video from the scene shows that the scaffold swung into the windows at one point as it swung out of control.

Officials are asking residents to stay away from the building due to the possibility of falling debris. It's unknown what caused the risky incident.

Oklahoma City firefighters said shortly before 8:30 a.m. that they had secured the basket and were working to get the window washers to safety.

The window washers secured the ropes to the basket which stabilized the basket before the men were rescued.
