Suspected Shooter Among 5 Dead In Chippewa County Shooting Incidents

5 dead, 2 injured in residential shootings in Wisconsin

Five people are dead after shootings at two separate locations in Chippewa County.

The shootings took place at two separate homes in Chippewa County, about 280 kilometers northwest of Madison, the state capital. The suspected shooter is also one of the deceased, according to a press release from the Chippewa County Sheriff's Office. Two others were transported from the scene.

Deputies went to the home of one of the victims to make contact with family members when the bodies at the second property were found.

The same gunman is suspected in both homicide investigations, and the suspected shooter is among the deceased, according to police.

Town of Lafayette Chairman Dave Staber says the community is generally safe and is seldom in the news. There they found three additional people dead of gunshot wounds, including a man, a woman and a boy. Those victims were a woman, a man and a juvenile male, local station WQOW reported.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department responded to a 911 call regarding a shooting at a residence in the 13000 block of 45th Avenue in the Village of Lake Hallie, just north of Eau Claire.

The names of those injured have not been released and the shooting is still under investigation. "My heart goes out to the residents affected by this", Staber said.

Authorities say the person suspected in both shootings is among the dead.
