First look at long-awaited Little Women and Saoirse Ronan steals the show

The first trailer for "Little Women" hit the internet Tuesday morning, giving audiences a first look at the all-star cast that spent months filming in MA past year. Well, you're in luck, as the eighth adaptation of Little Women, directed by Lady Bird's Greta Gerwig and starring Saoirse Ronan, Timothée Chalamet and Meryl Streep, among others, is here. "And they've got ambition, and they've got talent, as well as just beauty". This first footage follows Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh and Eliza Scanlen as the March sisters, four independent, imaginative, ahead-of-their-time young women coming of age in the 1860s. But despite the absence of their father (Bob Odenkirk), a pastor who is being employed miles away from home, the March sisters and their mother Marmee are still able to enjoy the little things in life, like flying kites and putting on costume plays in their attic.

Major household names, Emma Thompson, Meryl Streep and Laura Dern feature and with new kid on the block, Timothée Chalamet, who won rave reviews for his Beautiful Boy performance, the line-up truly is wonderful.

Despite Jo's feelings about marriage and a woman's role in 1860's society, there is a clear love story involved in Little Women. In fact, I anticipate that Little Women will be a major force come awards season, which would be no small feat.

Sony Pictures opens the film wide on Christmas Day.
