The 21-year-old's mugshot, which was posted alongside the online appeal, shows the man with a receding hairline - which has been the subject of jokes and puns in the comment section.
Gwent Police, in Newport, Wales, last Wednesday posted to Facebook the photo of Jermaine Taylor, 21, of Newport, who is being sought by police after being convicted on a drug charge involving cocaine.
Taylor originally received a three-year sentence for being concerned in supplying cocaine after being sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on 4 September 2017.
Another poster said: "He was last seen in town; Police are combing the area".
United Kingdom police are busy searching for a drug dealer who breached his prison release conditions - but now cops are turning their attention to yet another legal problem: People mocking his hair.
In their own post, Gwent Police warned: "Please remember that harassing, threatening and abusing people on social media can be against the law".
But thousands of people took to social media to mock his unusual hairdo.
"We're really grateful to everyone who is assisting us in locating Jermaine Taylor, and we must admit a few of these comments have made us laugh", police said Monday, the outlet noted.
"Thankfully, in the 87,000 comments, this is a very small number and the majority are doing a great job helping us day to day".
Gwent Police's Facebook posts usually get only a handful of responses but this time there were almost 90,000 comments, a lot of them mocking Taylor's haircut. "Have a blessed day".
Police said Taylor had breached his licence conditions following his release from prison in December 2018.
