The official told the New York Times that one of the corrections officers was working his fifth straight day of OT. This allowed Epstein to plead guilty to Florida state charges of procuring a minor for prostitution, for which he served 13 months in jail.

The source also mentioned that Epstein's cellmate had been transferred out of their shared unit, which is another violation of the jail's procedures.

An investigation must take place to determine how Epstein was able to die while in federal custody.

Epstein was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday morning at the Metropolitan Correctional Center due to an apparent hanging, according to a statement from the Federal Bureau of Prisons. He was later pronounced dead from an apparent suicide, the BOP said.

"Today, a medical examiner performed the autopsy of Jeffrey Epstein".

Sampson said having a private pathologist observe an autopsy is a routine practice.

Bazerman says an incident like that could have been enough of a trigger to put Epstein on suicide watch again, but someone, like Epstein's attorney, would have had to notify prison leaders of any upcoming events. In addition to the FBI's investigation, I have consulted with the Inspector General who is opening an investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Epstein's death. The two guards on duty during Epstein's death were reportedly both working overtime. Epstein was being held on federal sex trafficking charges. He had pleaded not guilty and was awaiting trial. His recent federal indictment in NY came over a decade after a non-prosecution agreement, signed by the U.S. Attorney's Office in south Florida allowed Epstein to avoid federal prosecution there, for allegedly molesting teenage girls. He noted in a statement Saturday that the indictment against Epstein includes a conspiracy charge, suggesting others could face charges in the case.

While conspiracy theories run wild on social media, more details have emerged on how Epstein could've committed suicide in such a maximum-security jail, the same prison facility which has held high profile defendants such as crime boss John Gotti, terrorist Ramzi Yousef, and Mexican drug lord, El Chapo, especially after his attempt to kill himself a mere two weeks prior.

"There are vacant positions at every federal prison in the country".

Our sources all agree on one thing. the fatal flaw ways taking someone off suicide watch days after they believe he may have attempted to take his own life.

His death raises many questions, as Epstein was rumoured to have been on suicide watch. The records contain graphic allegations against Epstein, as well as the transcript of a 2016 deposition of Epstein in which he repeatedly refused to answer questions to avoid incriminating himself.

Epstein had been jailed since early July, when he pleaded not guilty to charges by NY federal prosecutors after an indictment accused him of running a sex trafficking ring of underage girls, some as young as 14.

"We've worked so hard to get here, and he stole that from us, too", she told the newspaper.

Sigrid McCawley, Giuffre's attorney, said Epstein's suicide less than 24 hours after the documents were unsealed "is no coincidence". McCawley urged authorities to continue their investigation, focusing on Epstein associates who she said "participated and facilitated Epstein's horrifying sex trafficking scheme".

Berkeley Heights, New Jersey (CNN)President Donald Trump on Saturday promoted a conspiracy theory linking the Clinton family to the death of multimillionaire and accused sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein, the latest instance of Trump propagating baseless conspiracy theories and falsehoods.
