Taylor Swift Receives Teen Choice Icon Award and Announces ‘Lover’ Song Release

At Sunday's 2019 Teen Choice Awards, World Cup champ Alex Morgan presented the icon award to Taylor Swift who took the opportunity to speak out about gender equality. The friends sang her praises and shared why they admire her as a person and artist.

The 29-year-old was introduced to the stage by Alex Morgan, who won the World Cup with the USA women's football team last month. Please, please, please support her and her teammates because this is not over yet.

The Icon Award was presented to the singer in the form of a personalised surfboard featuring Taylor's cats.

She added, "I just want you to know if you are out there and being hard on yourself right now for something that has happened, or messing up or feeling embarrassed it is normal". "Aesthetically speaking this may be my favorite award", Swift smiled.

She then advised fans to never give up, even after mistakes are made. I love meeting you. You make me so happy, you make me laugh every day online. "One thing is mistakes are enviable". Thank you for giving me the life that I have.

Kevin, Joe and Nick took to the stage to accept the prize, which organisers said celebrates their development over the past 10 years. That's what going to happen to you in life. No one gets through unscathed.

In true Taylor fashion, she dropped a massive announcement at the end of her acceptance speech - the title track of her much-awaited seventh album Lover is dropping this Friday!

Swift's seventh studio album, Lover, debuts on August 23, and will have four deluxe editions of the album available at Target.
