Epic Games have been able to provide a number of crossover events with different television shows, movies, and video games like Stranger Things, Marvel's Avengers, and Borderlands.
This started with players finding a red balloon floating over a footpath drain in the game's Pleasant Park location.
Multiple Reddit users have reported coming across unusual red balloons all over the game's map - a clear nod the twisted clown Pennywise, as an image undeniably synonymous with IT.
Crossover events in Fortnite allow Epic to introduce new gameplay mechanics and LTMs into the game's rotation and gauge what the community enjoys. They had also found Pennywise's laugh along with it, which was convincing enough to make players pretty confident this collaboration was going to happen.
However, none of this has been officially confirmed by Epic Games yet. The laugh and red balloons are all signature elements of Pennywise in the films.
While nothing else has been found, the red balloon itself is iconic, and can only stem from one possible franchise. And we don't yet know whether it will be coming back.
Data miners failed to find clues of challenges or skins so far.
This game is the free, always evolving, multiplayer game where you and your friends battle to be the last one standing in 100 PvP mode or collaborate to create your dream Fortnite world.
We are just hours away from the release of IT Chapter Two in the cinemas, murderous clown Pennywise returns to terrorise the now grown up children from the first movie and that may not be the only place you will see him.
