Apple Arcade lands on macOS Catalina beta

Final Cut Pro X on Mac Book Pro

RIP iTunes: Apple releases MacOS 10.15 Catalina

Apple Arcade will show up as a tab in the Mac App Store, and Catalina brings support for Xbox One controllers (as long as they are models with Bluetooth) and PlayStation DualShock 4 controllers.

macOS Catalina 10.15 double down on macOS Mojave's new features by introducing several new apps and technologies to put your Mac in line with your other devices, such as the iPad, by allowing you to extend your workspace and expand your creativity.

Beyond that, macOS features new accessibility features including voice control. Apple says that "users will begin to see their favorite iPad apps in Mac versions, including Twitter, TripIt, Post-It, GoodNotes and Jira", and that more are on the way. Also, you might want to think twice about smashing Update if you rely on this Mac to do your job, hobby or any other major project that involves third-party apps.

Before attempting to install macOS Catalina 10.15, you should first check if your Mac computer is supported. You'll also notice more promotional Apple TV+ material in the new TV app, which makes sense - the streaming service launches November 1st. The latest version of macOS, Catalina, is now available for download. An Apple spokesperson says that the feature in its final form should be able to distinguish between Voice Control commands and Siri requests without getting confused.

All of those additions and more should be available to Mac users by the end of the day. With iCloud, Screen Time combines all usage and syncs Downtime settings and App Limits across devices.

There are also a number of significant security enhancements, including T2 chip support for Activation Lock and tighter security prompt integration with Apple Watch.

A new Find My app brings the device-locating functionality to macOS - and even allows for offline tracking of devices.

Photos features a attractive new browsing experience that intelligently showcases the user's best pictures.

Mail in macOS Catalina adds the ability to block email from a specified sender, mute an overly active thread and unsubscribe from commercial mailing lists.
