Manchester United accept how many major signings they still need to make – report

Since that result over two months ago, United have picked up just one more win in the Premier League - a 1-0 win against Leicester City - with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side now sitting in 12th place in the league table.

While players like Bournemouth's Callum Wilson and Juventus veteran Mario Mandzukic have already been linked with a switch to Old Trafford, a new forward has now entered the fray, in the form of Moussa Dembele.

Fans have been awash with hilarious suggestions on who should be the next sponsors of Manchester United.

According to the Daily Record, Manchester United have opened talks with the 23-year-old over a potential January transfer, with the striker also believed to be keen on making the move.

Van der Sar's last game saw him become the oldest player in a Champions League final at 40 years and 211 days.

Speaking in an interview earlier this week, Van der Sar suggested that returning to United remained a goal of his.

"But I need to learn a little more here [at Ajax], develop myself further and eventually let's see what the future brings".

Manchester United is reported to be continuing talks with possible shirt sponsors as doubts emerge over the future of the existing agreement with American auto manufacturer Chevrolet.

A club spokesman said: "Chevrolet is a fantastic partner and we will continue to work with them to activate and maximise the sponsorship".
