The Rock plays a 20th century riverboat captain named Frank who takes a scientist played by Emily Blunt into a jungle in search of the Tree of Life.
As the pair travel through the jungle, they find themselves facing more than just water creatures - something Lily hadn't planned for when their cruise ship is headed straight for a precipitous waterfall.
In the official first trailer for Jungle Cruise, Blunt and Johnson are on a research mission to a mythical place said to offer incredible healing powers. It's a relatively simple adventure story that Johnson and Blunt have compared to the 1984 romantic comedy-adventure Romancing the Stone.
Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, The Shallows) directed the film from script by J.D. Payne & Patrick McKay and Michael Green.
Disney is obviously hoping to kick off another ride-based franchise here as Pirates of the Caribbean has seemingly finally sunk down to Davy Jones' Locker (maybe). Also starring in the film are Edgar Ramirez, Jack Whitehall, with Jesse Plemons, and Paul Giamatti.
Disney's Jungle Cruise opens in USA theaters on July 24, 2020.
