Zion Williamson #1 of the New Orleans Pelicans talks with Cameron Reddish #22 of the Atlanta Hawks after a pre-season game on October 7, 2019 at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia.

It featured an astonishing slam dunk in just the first half of the match, in which he picked up a pass at the three point line, drove past three Hawks defenders with a rapid turn of pace, and finished in devastating style.

Williamson, the 19-year-old former Duke University player, showed the step up top the big time didn't seem to bother him in the slightest.

But the first one of hopefully many.

"They shouldn't do that [comparing]", Gentry said.

The Pelicans may have shipped Anthony Davis off to the Lakers to play with LeBron James, but they now have one of the league's No. 1 attractions again in Williamson. "We are not doing that".

Zion Williamson's massive dunk lit up social media.

However, Williamson was keen to stress he is so much more than just a player capable of producing highlight-worthy plays.

He continued: "I know that it's inevitable that that's going to be the case, but we are not drinking that Kool-Aid".

An estimated 10,000 attended the Pelicans' open scrimmage on Saturday as Williamson mania revs up with the start of the season around the corner.

In 28 minutes of action, Pelicans forward Zion Williamson scored 16 points and had seven rebounds and three assists in his National Basketball Association debut.
