And it would appear that it is not just limited to humans, either, as at least one spunky beluga whale in the South Pole seems to have caught it too. The couple who claims to be rugby fanatics were sailing on a yacht when they spotted the whale swimming next to them.

A viral video has captured the incredible moment a beluga whale played "fetch the ball" with a man on a boat.

A group of South Africans aboard the Gemini Craft boat took a rugby ball with them on their travels for good luck, and it obviously worked.

As you can see in the video, it happily goes after the ball and returns it to the crew before tossing it out again for another go.

The bond between man and beluga whales just got a whole lot stronger. Another version of the video was also shared on Facebook which has collected over 1.3 million views. Beluga whales, in case you hadn't already guessed, are incredibly intelligent. They are highly social animals who employ a diversified language of clicks, whistles, and clangs to communicate.
