Carrie Fisher's brother reveals Rise of Skywalker's original Leia plan

Carrie Fisher's Leia Organa Was Originally Going To Be The Rise Of Skywalker’s ‘Last Jedi’

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker originally included a lightsaber-wielding Leia

Sure, I loved her and wanted to be like her, but Chewbacca was my favorite because he was furry.

Todd Fisher, brother of the late Carrie Fisher, spoke with Yahoo recently about his sister's role in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. "So her death was a real shock, and changed things quite dramatically". It's going to be hard for all of us who have looked to Carrie Fisher and Princess Leia as a beacon of strength.

"She was going to be the big payoff in this final film and that was what the intent was prior to her exiting".

As previously revealed by Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, once Carrie Fisher was done shooting The Last Jedi, she told Kennedy that she "better be at the forefront" of Episode IX, as The Force Awakens highlighted Han Solo and The Last Jedi highlighted Luke Skywalker. He said. "Obi-Wan was in his prime when he was Carries age!"

Alleged plot leaks have indicated that General Organa will pick up a lightsaber and train Rey in the Force.

"The truth is that J.J. Abrams was great friends with Carriehe had an extraordinary sense of love for her", he said.

Fisher had other comments about his sister's role in The Rise of Skywalker. They grabbed every frame and analyzed it and then reverse-engineered it and [got] it into the story the right way.

Abrams' affection for Carrie Fisher spurred him to include Leia in The Rise of Skywalker through manipulation of unused film footage from The Force Awakens. It's kind of magical.

It was only when boys began telling her they "fantasised about her mother" in middle school, when she finally watched Star Wars - which catapulted into her own interest in acting, which she first tried to play down because Carrie initially wasn't too keen on her pursuing a career in Hollywood. "To be able to see that - it's magical stuff only in the movies".

Unfortunately, fans won't get to see their favorite space princess kick butt as the last Jedi - which would've been up there with "Luke, I am your father" in terms of "Star Wars'" familial reveals.

She will also be featured in the upcoming finale to the original Star Wars saga, The Rise Of Skywalker.
