It's everywhere. Anyway, the upcoming movie will be based on the play "For the Love of a Glove: An Unauthorised Musical Fable About the Life of Michael Jackson, As Told By His Glove", written by Julien Nitzberg.
Johnny Depp is producing a musical about Michael Jackson.
You'd think that after HBO blew the lid on Michael Jackson with their ambitious and revelatory documentary Leaving Neverland, we'd be over making more Jackon projects as we near the new decade.
The actors star in life-size puppets of the Jackson 5, Donny Osmond, Emmanuel Lewis, Corey Feldman and Bubbles the Chimp.
The famous white glove worn by Michael Jackson when he performed Billie Jean at the Grammy Awards in 1983 is seen on display at "Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition" held at the 02 Arena on October 26, 2009 in London, England.
According to the makers, the musical is "a glimpse into the working of the unusual powers that formed Michael and the scandals that destroyed his reputation". "They laughed and said, 'Can you do the normal version?'"
As The Hollywood Reporter explains, "the film will cover his entire life and career, which includes his beginnings with The Jackson Five, a rise to pop superstardom and, later in life, legal struggles with both civil and criminal lawsuits stemming from allegations of child sex abuse". According to the musical's writer, the project got off the ground after he was initially recruited by a TV network to write a biopic about the controversial singer.
Johnny Depp's company, Infinitum Nihil, is producing, having previously collaborated with Nitzberg on a Tiny Tim (1960s ukulele artist) biopic that never came to fruition.
"For the Love of a Glove" premieres in Los Angeles on January 25, 2020.
