Britain's Prince Andrew avoided the limelight on Christmas Day by skipping the royal family's traditional mid-morning walk to church and attending an earlier service with other relatives.

Princess Charlotte has seemingly delighted royal onlookers by curtseying the Queen for the very first time after the annual Christmas Day church service in Sandringham. They left 1-year-old Prince Louis at home.

Both Prince Louis and Prince William are represented wearing jeans and a sweater, with William adding a flat cap to his outfit.

Charlotte's first public curtsy was in 2017, when the princess was just two-years-old, and she curtsied sweetly to Polish dignitaries during the Cambridge's royal tour of Poland and Germany.

The queen arrived in a Bentley with Charles' wife, Camilla.

There was no news on whether the prince will accompany the Queen to a Christmas Day church service, which he missed previous year.

Prince Harry, his wife, Meghan, and their 7-month-old son, Archie, did not attend.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been accompanying Will and Kate to the event for the past couple years, but they made a decision to spend the holiday in Canada this year.

A source says that William and Kate are preparing their children for the future when they take the throne.

The 4-year-old royal was given a bouquet of gorgeous white roses by a 6-year-old boy as she walked with her mother, Kate Middleton, outside the Church of St. Mary Magdalene on Wednesday, but when it came time to hand them over to a royal aide, Charlotte didn't want to let go of the sweet gift. She said the flamingo was called Felicity but that Charlotte is free to give it another name. Turning to Christmas, she said the story is, at its heart, about the birth of a child, an event that goes "overlooked' in Bethlehem". She emphasised the need for forgiveness and reconciliation and admitted it had been a hard year.

"The path, of course, is not always smooth, and may at times this year have felt quite bumpy, but small steps can make a world of difference", said Britain's longest reigning monarch.

The Queen also said she had been "struck" by the "sense of purpose" younger generations have shown in tackling issues like climate change.

'Okay however Charlotte's curtsied to the Queen! OMG!

The message was recorded before Philip was hospitalised for four days for treatment of a "pre-existing condition" that was not revealed to the public.

Prince Andrew, who has been dragged in the news for his ties to the Jeffrey Epstein scandal, made a surprise appearance alongside his brother, Prince Charles.

Andrew has denied accusation by a woman who said she was trafficked by Epstein and forced to have sex with his friends, including the prince, when she was 17.

The royal family attended the service after a gala at the Queen's palatial countryside retreat.

It has been a hard year of adjustment for Harry and Meghan. Several well-wishers woke up extra early and queued for hours to catch a glimpse of the royal family.
