Fire Emblem's Byleth revealed as Smash Bros Ultimate's fifth DLC character

Switch owners will be able to pre-order the Fighters Pass 2 from January 28, with a special Zelda: Breath of the Wild Mii costume available as a pre-order bonus.

Nintendo has finally revealed the final character as part of the Super Smash Bros.

It's time to find out who's going to join the fray next in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, where Byleth was announced as the final Fighter Pass 1 character, a new trailer for the upcoming "Cindered Shadows" side story was shown.

Ultimate's roster is already larger than anything we could have imagined before the game was released, but even more fighters are on the way. Ultimate were a reality from the moment the game was announced, but originally, Nintendo and Sora Ltd. only planned to release five DLC characters for the game. While most Fire Emblem characters in Smash are only sword-users, Byleth will use a variety of weapons including a legendary bow, axe, and Byleth's Sword of the Creator, each of which comes out depending on the direction of players' attacks.

A new stage based on the Garreg Mach Monastery from Fire Emblem: Three Houses is also coming to the game along with a Mii Fighter costume based on Cuphead. This is Smash's first 2020 Direct, and will be presented by series director Masahiro Sakurai.
