A Colorado man was arrested early Monday after injuring eight people in a stabbing spree, according to police. "We then proceeded to that location and were getting medical to all the victims there", Peterson said.

Police received a call around 2 a.m. regarding two more stabbing victims.

Colorado Springs Police Sgt. Shawn Peterson told CNN affiliate KKTV that the suspect acted on his own.

Responding officers found the victims had managed to catch the suspect, and he was arrested.

The victims were taken to hospitals but police said the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. "Or 'No, ' and he was going to hurt me", she said.

"We were scouring the downtown area to include the parks and the trails looking for the suspect".

The suspect's identity has not been released.

The suspect had fled on walking trails that led through America the Beautiful Park, and officers who began to check there found more victims, police said.

The conditions of the hospitalized victims were not disclosed by the hospital. He said the man then attacked them both.

The suspect has not been identified.

"There doesn't appear to be any accomplices. There appears to be one sole individual doing this", Peterson said.

Police said the suspect was a male but provided no other information about him.

The attack was stopped because some of the victims were able to isolate the suspect for police.
