Syracuse: The Orange scored just 34 points in their first game against the Cavaliers, which was the season-opener for both teams.
Virginia: The Cavaliers' inconsistency on offense was on full display in the second half when they didn't score for almost 3 minutes, then scored 12 consecutive points in about 3 1/2 minutes to take a 35-30 lead. The Orange found themselves in a unsafe position as Dolezaj and Sidibe faced foul trouble with four each, allowing Virginia to turn on the jets and jump on an 8-0 run to go ahead 31-30 close to the 14-minute mark. But an inability to score is a clear weak point for Virginia headed into this matchup. Around the 10-minute mark, Dolezaj converted a pair of free throws and Girard added a three to tie the score 35-35.
