There was speculation that Federer would include the Madrid and Rome Masters in his truncated schedule for 2020 but his agent, Tony Godsick, said that would not happen.
Federer has been selective with his clay court schedule since 2017 where skipped the entire clay court season, including Roland Garros, two years in a row before returning and playing in Paris, Madrid and Rome last year.
The 38-year-old Swiss reached the quarter finals of both tournaments last year before reaching the semi-final of Roland Garros where he was beaten by Rafael Nadal.
He added a number of exhibition tournaments to his schedule at the end of 2019, in South America, Mexico and Hangzou, China.
He landed in the Australian great without having played a competitive game since November a year ago (month in which he played the ATP Finals).
Federer, who won the French Open only once, in 2009, will arrive rested for this year's campaign at Roland Garros, which begins on May 24.
Federer will try to defend the title in Dubai in two weeks, embracing North American swing in Indian Wells and Miami after that and taking nearly two months off to charge batteries for Roland Garros and grass swing that follows after that lone clay event.
The Miami Masters hard court tournament from March 25 to April 5 is the last step on your calendar before Paris.
