Cut to now. If we go by the Taiwanese publication Commercial Times, the ROG Phone 3 and Zenfone 7 are expected to launch either by the end of Q2 or the beginning of Q3. Though there's no confirmation about the release of these devices, interestingly, the ROG Phone III was recently spotted on Geekbench and has also cleared the WiFi Alliance certification with model number I003DD. As of now, the company hasn't revealed any details about either of these smartphones.
At the Snapdragon Tech Summit previous year, Qualcomm announced its latest flagship chipset - the Snapdragon 865. For the unaware, the ROG Phone III is a follow up to last year's ROG Phone II which is known for disrupting the gaming smartphone segment with its flagship specifications and relatively affordable price tag. For a quick reminder, Asus launched its first gaming phone the ROG Phone back in June 2018. The Geekbench listing confirmed the device to pack Snapdragon 865 SoC along with 8GB of RAM. Specifically, one of the most iconic features of the Zenfone 6 has been its unique camera design wherein the entire camera module would flip over to serve as a front facing camera as well. It is also mentioned to be running on Android 10. Unlike the ZenFones, the ROG Phones will have ROG UI with several gamer-centric features for an enhanced gaming experience. No surprise! The smartphone will come with Snapdragon 865 SoC.
As per the Geekbench 5.1.1 benchmark, the device has scored 902 points in the single-core and 3,074 points in the multi-core tests. Previously the ROG Phone 2 had a 120Hz refresh rate display and that is something that should be ported to the next iteration. It offers up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM and up to 512GB of UFS 3.0 flash storage.
