Kimura was the daughter of fellow wrestler, Kyoko Kimura. "I'm sorry", on Instagram, shortly before her death was confirmed at a hospital in the early hours of the day.

"I love it. I'm weak, I'm sorry", she tweeted, according to Variety.

Kimura's death was announced by her wrestling organisation Stardom Wrestling on Saturday. She also wrestled for Stardom during that time, and officially left Wrestle-1 to join Stardom in 2019, where she was the leader of the Tokyo Cyber Squad faction. She's a two-time Artist of Stardom Champion and a one-time Goddess of Stardom Champion.

Kimura featured on the fifth and current season of Japanese reality TV show Terrace House, which sees three men and three women live under the same roof as they form relationships with each other. "Distraught", wrestler Jamie Hayter wrote.

Several fans took aim at those who have "mean tweeted" her, with one fan writing, "This f-in idiot @dx6N0KFrvv6fPzm has been harassing Hana Kimura for who even knows how long, telling her to disappear multiple times".
